Darren co-founded Quarry Capital Management.

Prior to Quarry Capital Management, Darren worked as a Director in the Performance Improvement group of AlixPartners where he executed turnarounds in telecom, automotive, steel, retail, and distribution. He received the 2003 AlixPartners "Achievement in Excellence Award."  Prior to AlixPartners, he was an independent turnaround consultant, taking on senior operating roles in the medical device manufacturing, software, and mobile technology industries.

Darren worked for General Motors for over 11 years in the U.S. and Brazil in various engineering (design and manufacturing) and management positions.  As manager of Powertrain Program Planning in Brazil he helped save $50m by localizing production during a currency crisis.  While at GM, Darren was designated a GM Scholar and is a double recipient of the GM Fellowship Award.

Brent P. Johnstone, CFA
Managing Director

Brent co-founded Quarry Capital Management.

Brent joined Quarry Capital Management from Thomson Financial where he ran a $150M P&L, managing content, data feeds and advanced analytics in the U.S. for the Investment Management division while overseeing such flagship brands as First Call, I/B/E/S and Thomson ONE Analytics.  Prior to Thomson Financial, he was General Manager of TheMarketsPro at TheMarkets.com, a consortium of eleven of the largest global broker dealers, including Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.  Before that, Brent founded and launched BulldogResearch.com, a financial site with over 500,000 monthly visitors that was awarded Forbes Best of the Web in 2000.  Brent worked in Private Client Services at Lehman Brothers before founding BulldogResearch.com and worked in investment banking in Morgan Stanley's Real Estate and Technology corporate finance teams in the early '90s.  Brent is a CFA Charterholder.
